About Us

Main Street Market was built over the summer of 1987 and opened the Thursday of Labor Day Weekend. The Village of Egg Harbor business district was quite small, as was the original footprint of the store. Dave and Vonnie Callsen, along with daughter and son-in-law Kaaren and Steve Northrop, saw an opportunity to build a market focused on customer service and quality products in a community with the potential to grow and prosper.

The store has expanded twice – to the west in 1991, then the east in 1997 – and so has the family. Sam and Melissa Northrop joined the market in 2015 making Main Street Market a three generation family-run business. 

The market boasts a fantastic staff dedicated to making your shopping experience pleasant, efficient and worth the time to come in and shop. New and interesting products are displayed in a clean and well organized store. Outstanding customer service throughout the market is standard.
