I mentioned earlier that our granddaughter Ivana was living in Door County for 7 weeks this summer. She came the Saturday of Memorial Weekend and went back home to Madison on her birthday, July 16.
We had a birthday party for her the day before she left; this was her “princess of the party” crown and scepter. We also celebrated the birthdays of Missy and Kathy Diltz; alas they did not get crowns to wear!
The biggest hits of the party were bubbles for Ivana (and Regan and Missy) and a very large tub of tapioca pudding for Kathy! She was so excited.
Dave and Vonnie said their house is a little quiet this week without Ivana – Vonnie misses her in the morning and Dave misses her at night. During the day, she absolutely loved the Northern Door Child Care Center – and the beach. Anyway, it was time for her to go back home. Her mother Maggie spent most of that time in Nepal on an internship for school. Adam went to visit, then on to Portugal and Ireland before returning to Madison.
It hardly seems like 4 years since Ivana was born. Man, children grow up fast!
Pumpkin Patch weekend in Egg Harbor. So many people!!! I think the village was at the breaking point!
Here are 3 fun things that happened at Main Street Market Saturday. A little girl in line for our bathroom, couldn’t hold it and peed on the floor. Someone puked all over our patio; Dave and Corey hosed it down and cleaned it off. A van in our parking lot parked so close to another car – 4 inches – the occupants could not open the door! The woman climbed in through the passenger side, then was so incensed she called the deputies. Someone backed her car out without hitting the offending vehicle; who knows when those people showed up!
Anyway, someone asked me if Regan was going to miss being home for Pumpkin Patch – the first one she’s ever missed! She sent me this picture of her and her roommates at The Bean in downtown Chicago. The three of them took the train into the city from Lake Forest College. Needless to say, she had a lovely day!
The U-W marching band is assembling outside the store right now. They are going to march down Main Street, out the back (highway) door and into the street to the park. This will be a better day!
Where did the summer go – it can’t possibly be Labor Day weekend already, can it? Seems like the summer of 2011 took forever to arrive – and now it is almost over. Oh well.
In the bakery, one of our proofers is running very slowly and the frosting warmer died. Linda and I decided the equipment is just like us – a little pooped after a busy July and August – and almost out of gas!
Hopefully the weather will clear up today. If not today, then Monday for sure! Main Street Market is closing Monday at 6:00 pm – and taking the crew out for dinner. Look for pictures!
Happy Labor Day!
Please like Main Street Market on facebook! I swore I would never do this, but I just did – argh!
Now that we have this cool website, I guess the facebook thing was inevitable – but I have a warning for all my “friends”. I am really bad at this stuff.
My goal is to take pictures -Â new products, great looking produce, pretty party trays, etc. and post them. I am also going to take pictures of our staff and introduce you to them. They are trickling into Door County from all over the world – and close by.
For now – we had a busy Memorial Weekend and we are ready for summer. Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate – soon!
Remember – like Main Street Market.
