Steve moving the carts

Moving the carts to the winter storage

It’s official – summer is over. Since it was such a beautiful day, Steve decided to walk the extra carts to the garage for winter storage today. He can hook 5 carts together and walk them down the street – it’s the easiest way! Last year, he waited until a cold day, but today was perfect.

Ilya also spent a couple of hours outside this afternoon cleaning the carts – and working on his tan! It looked like a cart wash on the dock side of the building. If I didn’t get so many phone calls, I would have loved to do that myself!

The end of summer is a sad time for us, as we say goodbye to many of the blue-shirted summer kids who have been a big part of MSM for the past few months. Tommy and Maggie back to Phoenix, Lauren to Indianapolis. Emily off to the University of Richmond Law School. (She is in the midst of Irene right now – no power, but dry!) Andrew back to Green Bay, along with Matt, with Michael soon to follow. Matthew back to Florida, Matt S. a freshman at Northern Michigan. (We had a lot of Matt’s this summer.) Regan started classes at Lake Forest College Thursday and Erin and Sarah begin classes at St.Norbert College Monday.

The international kids start going back to their countries next. Nurgul and Guka leave for Kyrgyzstan this week. Antoniya to Bulgaria. Kevin to China and Ilya to Bulgaria. The rest will be here until late September or October – thank goodness!

The Main Street Market summer kids are wonderful – fun to work with and interesting. We had dinner at the MSM house last week; Chinese and Kyrgyzstan cuisine – it was delicious! And fun to learn more about their countries, families and customs.

I hate saying goodbye…

Front-end Schedule - August

This is a poor picture of the front-end schedule for a week in August.

Andrew's Beef Kabobs

Andrew's Beef Kabobs

It is hot out there – and the grill is the best place to cook! For a great summer meal, beef and chicken kabobs cannot be beat. Andrew is the kabob specialist at the Main Street Market in Egg Harbor – check out these beauties! Angus top sirloin, fresh peppers, onions and mushrooms topped with a cherry tomato – they are as delicious as they are pretty! The chicken kabobs are good too, just not as photogenic!

Call and order ahead – or take a chance. Add a salad and a loaf of crusty bread and you’ve got a perfect summer meal.
