Maryna

Maryna

Okay – this is a terrible picture and I’m sure Maryna will have a fit, but it is the only picture I have on my computer. Sorry Maryna!

Tuesday night – midnight – Maryna has an interview with the US Embassy in Poland – 8:30 am Wednesday morning, Poland time. I know many people have missed her and wondered where she was, or just thought they kept coming to the Main Street Market on her days off. Maryna left here September 8 and returned to her home in the Ukraine. ICE is very complicated, but the gist of it is that she received notice a month earlier that she had 30 days to leave the US – and so she did.

Once she got back to the Ukraine, Maryna waited for an invitation to interview for a  green card. Her interview is this week – finally! She has a 50/50 chance and one shot at a green card – her ticket back to Door County and us, Andrew and her cat. Mostly Andrew, then us, then the cat (I think!)

We have a green candle that has special powers. We’ve lit it for many people for various reasons – mainly surgical procedure – but it is a potent good luck charm. The last person to benefit from the powers of the candle is Mettie Lautenbach – it saved her life! Well maybe the doctors had something to do with it, but the candle helped!

Tuesday afternoon we will light the candle at the front desk. Hopefully someone will remember to blow it out when the store closes ( burning down the store might not be good luck.) We will also send thoughts and prayers to Maryna on her way to the Embassy and her interview, and we’d really appreciate it if you would also. Hopefully, she will know the outcome of the interview within a day. We sincerely hope  Andrew comes to work Wednesday morning with a ginormous smile on his face! I doubt he will be able to sleep Tuesday night.

I’ll update everyone when I know the outcome. In the meantime, please keep Maryna in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
