Aren't you hungry?

Door County Strawberries

Main Street Market has “first of the season” strawberries – delivered fresh from Malvitz Bay Farms in Sturgeon Bay. Delicious!!! Fresh Door County strawberries, angel food cake and vanilla ice cream – or if you prefer the healthy option – yogurt – summer is definitely here! And early!

Main Street Market has fresh fish every week.

Fresh Catfish on Sale!

Main Street Market has a great supply of fresh fish – 5 days a week, even in the winter. And, as every person of Catholic faith knows – it is the Lenten Season!

The goal of the Northrop family during Lent was simple. No meat on Fridays, and no fish either! If we could make it through Lent without having to resort to fish, we were feeling pretty good! Cheese Manicotti was a favorite, as well as grilled cheese, cheese pizza, baked spaghetti, and when the kids were younger, French Toast.

However, fish is really good for your health. We should eat it more often, but don’t. Shrimp, yes – fresh fish, not so much. We have many customers who do eat fish; one of these days I will get on the bandwagon.

During the Lenten Season, Main Street Market will have some type of fresh fish on sale every week. If you have a request for any kind of shellfish or fillets, ask the guys in the meat department and we will try to get it for you.

As for the catfish, I think a long time ago I had blackened catfish – and it was delicious!

Sunshine House Wreaths

Sunshine House Wreaths

Main Street Market is again selling Christmas wreaths for the Sunshine House. Last year, they made this great display rack to hold the wreaths; it does a much better job than the folding table we previously used!

The wreaths are $25 and $35 – and beautiful! This year they are better than ever – and the proceeds go directly to Sunshine House. Annie Lampert is in charge and refills our display often. It is December 1 tomorrow – time to get your home decorated for Christmas!

Please like Main Street Market on facebook! I swore I would never do this, but I just did – argh!

Now that we have this cool website, I guess the facebook thing was inevitable – but I have a warning for all my “friends”. I am really bad at this stuff.

My goal is to take pictures -  new products, great looking produce, pretty party trays, etc. and post them. I am also going to take pictures of our staff and introduce you to them. They are trickling into Door County from all over the world – and close by.

For now – we had a busy Memorial Weekend and we are ready for summer. Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate – soon!

Remember – like Main Street Market.
