Bogle Wines - very good!

Bogle Essential Red

Bogle is a very well-known wine label and has been a consistent source of good and reasonably priced wines for many years. They just came out with a new blend (blends are all the rage now) – Bogle Essential Red. It’s regular retail price is a bargain at $11.99 – but Main Street Market has 23 bottles left at this intro price of $9.99 – limit 2 bottles per customer!

Those 23 bottles will probably be gone very soon!

Look at the shoes!

Dean Pohlman and Chobani President

Main Street Market and the most recent example of our small, small world. My sister Julie sent me this picture today. Her son, Dean Pohlman is working in Washington DC this summer with the Turkish Embassy (or something very similar.) They recently had an American Turkish Summit and Dean met the president of Chobani.

Chobani is the best-selling brand of Greek yogurt which Main Street Market has been selling for years! Before it was everywhere else! I heartily recommend it if you have not tried it. I am addicted – 1/2 container of Vanilla Chobani and fresh blueberries, blackberries and raspberries is my breakfast of choice!

Julie knows I love Chobani, so sent this picture. It is interesting that the president of a Greek yogurt company is Turkish. And – check out the shoes! Fantastic!

Two years ago, Brandi Carlile came to DCA for a concert; Main Street Market sponsored it. It was fabulous!!! We tried to get her back the next year, but it didn’t work out. However, this spring, after much rearranging of the puzzle that is the DCA Mainstage Season, Brandi will be on our stage with her band this Saturday night. Yay!

Funny story about this concert. My son Sam texted me about 3 months ago, with a link to a band called The Lumineers. He said they were awesome and coming to Fish Creek this summer; he wanted to know if we, Main Street Market, could sponsor them.

I went to the link, and saw that they were not only performing at DCA, but opening for Brandi Carlile! Which we were already sponsoring! It is really nice to be ahead of your adult children once in a while!

We are very excited about this nearly sold-out concert! Brandi was amazing the last time she was here and has a new album, and The Lumineers are #3 on itunes this week. It will be fun!

Fresh herbs at Main Street Market

The MSM herb garden

A few years ago we rebuilt the patio on the highway side of Main Street Market. The strip of soil next to the building on both sides of the door seemed like the perfect spot for a herb garden – and it is!  Two weeks ago, Door Landscape put in the annual flowers under the sign – and planted the herb garden. (That is probably why we haven’t had rain since, but that is another subject!)

Our mild winter allowed some of the herbs to survive, hence the incongruity in size of the plantings! But – if we get some rain soon, the newbies will catch up. Teri uses lots of herbs from the garden in the deli. When the garden is full and lush, and Teri can’t use everything, my plan is to sell them – you fill a bag with whatever you want. I make a great roasted tomato fresh herb sauce that is wonderful over pasta, a nice easy summer dinner.

Dance a rain dance. Or – wash your car!

I told you our granddaughter Ivana was living in Door County for 6 weeks this summer; her mother is in Nepal doing an internship and Adam has to work! Ivana stays at my parents’ house most of the time and our house a couple nights a week. Thursday Regan took her to The Red Putter for a round of mini golf – which she won! At least that’s what she told me – and I believe almost everything she tells me.

Ivana has been having a wonderful time in Door County. She goes to Northern Door Child Care Center 3 days a week and loves it! She has great babysitters – whose names I will not divulge. Ivana has also dined on pasta and butter in some of Door County’s great restaurants. During our Friday night dinner at Trio Restaurant we decided she was leading a very charmed life here!
