Barb came today to help me – so i added the copy I intended to write the day I posted this picture!

We did this tasting on a Friday afternoon – it was a lot of fun, the beer was really good and it became a bit of a party!

Andrew's Beef Kabobs

Andrew's Beef Kabobs

It is hot out there – and the grill is the best place to cook! For a great summer meal, beef and chicken kabobs cannot be beat. Andrew is the kabob specialist at the Main Street Market in Egg Harbor – check out these beauties! Angus top sirloin, fresh peppers, onions and mushrooms topped with a cherry tomato – they are as delicious as they are pretty! The chicken kabobs are good too, just not as photogenic!

Call and order ahead – or take a chance. Add a salad and a loaf of crusty bread and you’ve got a perfect summer meal.

4th of July in Egg Harbor – actually in all of Door County – is crazy! Egg Harbor has a great parade and the Main Street Market Drill Team is the crowd favorite! This year 16 kids lined up; Regan and Sarah led the team. All morning, the kids decorate our old shopping carts and fill water balloons. About half of them head up to the parade line-up to secure their spot; the rest leave the store 30 minutes before the parade starts. Someone has to work!

They used to practice the night before – now they learn their “routine” before the parade starts. They practice and finesse it when they turn onto Hwy 42 – the first part of the parade does not have many spectators.

As they get into town, the Casey’s mob pelts them with water balloons and squirt guns. Along the route, water hazards pop up! The drill team is loaded, and judiciously fights back.

When they get to Main Street Market, they do their best “weave” and “spin”. They all then turn to face the store, take a bow – and proceed to throw hundreds of water balloons at the people ( those of us who are working!) on the patio. We warn everyone sitting there in advance; most people know what to expect by now and don’t seem to mind! We do fight back with a small supply, but hey – they are the ones doing all the work!

They may not be a pretty float, but they are definitely the “best of show”. People talk about the Drill Team before and after – they are surely a highlight of the Egg Harbor 4th of July Parade.

And – we love them!
